At the foot of Cape Byron Lighthouse and a popular surf break for long boarders is Wategos; another hot spot, great for swimming – it is a  north-facing beach with sensational views looking out to Mt Warning, and when the surf turns it on, it’s epic. Rides – long and fast on tubular waves over a sandy bottom. Dolphins sometimes surf alongside for company.
